High Tea
When we were little we had pretend tea parties, recently we had so much fun going to a grown up high tea for the first time. When you add all of those amazing scones and tea sandwiches having tea is even tastier. 
We have learned that high tea is served late in the day, almost at supper time. Instead of smaller snacks like scones they serve tea sandwiches, more like a complete meal. In fact another name for high tea is “meat tea”.
An interesting fact about tea is that all tea comes from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis. When grown in the wild this evergreen tea plant can grow to a height of over 30 feet. In fact the camellia sinensis tea plant can produce tea for 50 years. That is such a long time to produce such a healthy tasty drink that so many people enjoy. Most countries drink tea hot, but iced tea was actually invented in America.
We have a whole new appreciation for tea now and we can’t wait to make up some recipes for our own little tea sandwiches. Remember don’t ever pass up trying lemon curd on a warm fresh scone it wil probably be one of the best things you have ever tasted in your whole life!
When you’re having high tea in your kitchen or in the Penninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills where we were fortunate enough to go, always remember it is all about the friends that you are sharing it with! Everything tastes better when you are with friends and family.
